Sarasota.

Sarasota holds a wider range of housing than anywhere else we serve. There is the mid century modern stock the city is genuinely famous for, flat roofs, deep overhangs and walls of glass drawn by the architects who worked here in the 1950s. There are the ordinary post war block neighbourhoods that make up most of the map. There is dense newer construction downtown and out along the Tamiami Trail. Each one asks for something different from a contractor.

The mid century homes in particular reward knowing what you are looking at. Those houses were designed around light, sightlines and proportion, and the wrong window, the wrong door or a dropped ceiling in the wrong place undoes the reason the house is worth something. Where we are working in one, the aim is to bring the kitchen, the bathrooms and the systems up to current standards without arguing with the architecture. In the post war block neighbourhoods it is the same work we do across Manatee: opening closed kitchens, rebuilding bathrooms properly waterproofed, replacing flooring, and rebuilding outdoor space that has reached the end of its life.
